(Social categories) Taxi drivers and the "mind of the people"

Joongang Ilbo notes in a short election article that parties and candidates are courting taxi drivers as conveyors of peoples' sentiments (minsim 民心). There's this one taxi company in Cheonan where the local candidates dropped in almost all at the same time. "Aren't taxi drivers, who are closest to the pulse of the people, the best campaigneers one can get?" says one candidate. And one party has given guidelines to use taxi as much as possible.

The picture from one week ago shows Chu Mi-ae visiting a taxi company, one week before his sambo ilbae ("three steps and one bow") performance in Gwangju (see Marmot).
